3D is a major step up in movie realism. Movies filmed with 3D cameras – that is, two cameras filming simultaneously at just the right distance apart – can imitate the real world more than ever before. Characters are no longer flat, explosions can send fire and debris into the audience and the sky stretches out forever behind the film, making going to the movies more like going to a live action special effects show. What 3d has done to live action movies is similar to what 3D animation did to cartoons.
3D is not limited to picture. 3D audio systems are being developed to surround you with multi-channel audio, making the sound seem to come from beside you, behind you, above you, below you and all around you, far more than the typical 5.1 audio systems will allow.
3D is catching on fast and rapidly improving at a rate that matches that of the advent of color in the early forties. While now it is seen as a special bonus in a film, we may one day come to expect it. It is entirely possible that one day the 3D format may be as common for a movie to be shot in as the color format.

Looking for a good chuckle with tonight’s movie selection? Then select one of the best movie spoofs for your movie night. Not sure which one to watch? Here’s a rundown of the top 6.

1. Robin Hood: Men In Tights – Mel Brooks is a master in general, but Cary Elwes and Dave Chappelle make this movie what it is. If that isn’t enough add in Roger Rees and Patrick Stewart, you can’t turn this one down.

2.Austin Powers – The Spy who shagged us needs no introduction in this Mike Myers film.

3.Hot Shots – Yeah its old school and with the scandal surrounding Charlie Sheen currently you may be turned off, but this one is a classic.

4.Young Frankenstein – Mel Brooks makes the list again with amazing parody starring Gene Wilder.

5.Scary Movie – Back when this franchise was still funny.

6.Spaceballs – Mel Brooks again? What can I say? He’s a master. Check this one out for some Star Wars based hilarity.

Spoof isn’t your taste for the night? Rent a movie and look for fun mistakes. Have you noticed the grip crew member on deck in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Back Pearl?

1. The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou – This movie was released last 2005 and since then, it has become a favorite among many movie aficionados. If you are looking for a movie that has a combination of comedy, suspense, and everything else under the sun, this is the best movie that you should have in your collection.

2. Run Lola Run – This is a must have if you are a movie collector because it is one of the best films that has ever been released. The movie is about two lovers who must do everything that they can to survive a deal gone wrong. I am sure that you will love this movie because the director did a great job to create mind-boggling twists that will keep you wondering even after you have watched the movie.

3. Minority Report – If you are looking for an intelligent movie that will keep you at the edge of your seat, you should have “Minority Report” in your movie collection. Fall is a great time for movie lovers and here are your best bets out right now
Contagion – Starring, well, pretty much everyone, Contagion is the eerily realistic tale of what happens when a virus spreads. Don’t see it if you don’t like gore or if you’re not really interested in getting freaked out at the theater.
I Don’t Know How She Does It – If you’ve really missed Sarah Jessica Parker since her exit from Sex and the City you’ve got to check out her latest modern comedy. For all the overworked moms and women in your life – watch the kids and let them have a movie date.
Straw Dawgs – Another thriller, Straw Dawgs teaches you never to buy a house way out in the woods without your neighbors liking you. It’s a scary one and you’ll leave jumpier than you came in, that’s for sure.

No doubt, kids need entertained and when you are looking to spend some family time together a movie is about the best way to sit down, unwind and relax. Here are a few movies I’ve seen first-hand hold the attention of little ones, even as young as 3!

Tangled – Classic Rapunzel gets tossed out the window and replaced with a free-spirited, kidnapped princess and a gang of vikings.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle – Shedder doesn’t seem to have lost his appeal as a bad guy, even after 20 years. All Dogs Go To Heaven – A Don Bluth tale about a homeless ruffian German Shepherd named Charlie who finds himself incarnated as a good guy.

Wall-E – Not sure why kids like this one. There isn’t a lot of words the first 30 minutes or so, but I’ll be darned if boys and girls both don’t love this film.

The Wizard of Oz – L. Frank Baum’s novel tale about a girl name Dorothy and her trip to Oz. Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the couch and cuddle up with the munchkins. Pun Intended.

How To Train Your Dragon – Here we go with Vikings again. This time a father disapproves of his son’s weaknesses only to find that they aren’t shortcomings after all. Oh, and there are dragons. That get trained!

This isn’t every movie that will hold the attention span of a kid, but it’s sure a good start. If you like what you see, keep going: New York exhibit has families Follow the Yellow Brick Road British Airways – Travel Industry News

Hands down the Harry Potter Series is a better bet for your family viewing. This wonderful series encourages morality, increases family discussions and introduces children to the value of reading to get the whole story. With no sexual innuendo, these brillant and moving stories show strong young women, children with less than idealic home lives who find a chanel for their pain.

Twilight on the other hand is pure teenage angst that drips with sexual innuendo, mature themes and plenty of teenage drama. The twilight theme is the Romeo and Juliet of the 21st century. The Harry Potter Series represents the Samson and Goliath story of the 21st century. With a constant focus on sports, friendships and adventures, J. K. Rowling’s does not force children to grow up too quickly. Twilight, may encourage teen-age reading, Stephanie Myers also discourages academics while encouraging weak female character roles that throw common sense to the wind.

The strength, integrity and heroism developed in the Potter series provides positive messages and models for young men. Filled with adventure, chicanery, love and loyalty, Harry Potter is the best choice. For those parents concerned about the emphasis on magic remember that it is fantasy like superman.

In order to examine the greatest movies of all time, we should break them down into genres. The main movie genres are comedy, horror, adventure and fantasy. When you name the best movies in each of these genres, you have developed your list of the greatest movies ever made.

Comedy
The greatest comedy ever made is a difficult decision. But when you consider the ground that it broke and the paths it carved for future comedies, you would have to choose “The Kid” (1921). This Charlie Chaplin classic was one of the first to incorporate elements of drama and adventure in with comedy. There were many great comedies that followed this one, but the formula established by this great movie has been followed for decades.

Horror
Few people will argue that the greatest horror movie ever made is “The Exorcist” (1973). It caused such a uproar in its day that the Catholic church tried to have it banned. The attention only fueled curiosity, and it went on to become one of the greatest movies ever made.

Adventure
The best adventure movie ever made is “Ben Hur” (1959). This epic tale of the life of a betrayed Jewish prince has been captivating audiences for many years. The chariot race scenes are some of the best action scenes ever filmed.

Fantasy
“Avatar” (2009) holds the crown as the greatest fantasy movie ever made. The film’s ability to transport you to an entirely new world, and the exciting story it tells, are a great combination.
